Edgelaw Equestrian is a newly established private livery yard offering grass livery services in well fenced, secure paddocks.

My name is Gillian Birnie, and I took over the tenancy of the property in April 2010 with the intention of continual development into a comprehensive livery yard with an extensive range of facilities.

Edgelaw Equestrian is located within the stunning scenery of the Midlothian countryside, nestled between the Moorfoot and Pentland Hills.  It comprises around 20 acres of paddocks and a yard formed of a variety of outbuildings.

I aim to provide a personalised service, catering for all ages and types of equestrians.  Horses and ponies are turned out in small herds with the needs of the individual animal and owner taken into consideration.

I believe that too many yards are run in accordance with the needs of the yard owner, not the horse owner, and having liveried on a variety of yards in the past I believe the answer is to tailor the service to the horse owner.

I own an Exmoor gelding called Flare (Cosmic Flare Star) and a New Forest x Appaloosa filly called Lily (Stockshill Floral Dance).  Lily was born in May 2009 and I have owned her since weaning.  I have owned Flare since November 2008.

Another yard resident is Jade the cat who has the very important job of vermin control!
